More About Me
FUNCTIONAL NUTRITIONAL THERAPIST
I’m a registered Nutritional Therapist with a background in psychology and I believe that the foundation for good mental and physical health starts with what’s on our plate. I’m passionate about helping people get to the ‘why’ behind their symptoms, then guiding them to fuel their body and brain with the right nutrition so that they can reclaim their health and mood for lasting wellness.

I am delighted to be combining my background in psychology and mental health, with my passion Nutritional Therapy by embarking on year-long fellowship in Nutritional Psychiatry under leading Integrative and Functional Psychiatrist, Dr James Greenblatt.

My Approach
I SPECIALISE IN FUNCTIONAL NUTRITIONAL THERAPY, AN APPROACH THAT COMBINES THE PRINCIPLES OF FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE AND THE LATEST NUTRITION SCIENCE WITH A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO HEALTH AND WELLBEING.
Functional nutrition considers the whole person, their diet, environment, lifestyle, health history and unique biochemistry, employing individualised, evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle interventions to support optimal health and performance and address the underlying issues driving symptoms.

Functional nutritional therapy can help you understand how your diet and lifestyle may be impacting your health, identify underlying biochemical imbalances, and create a personalised plan to help you achieve your health goals.
The key principles of functional nutrition

A HOLISTIC APPROACH
Looking at the body as an interconnected system rather than isolating individual organs or symptoms.
PERSONALISATION

Recognising that each person is unique, with different needs and responses to food.
ADDRESSING THE 'WHY'
Addressing the underlying causes of health issues, such as nutrient deficiencies, biochemical imbalances, or environmental factors.

LIFESTYLE
MEDICINE
Considering factors like stress, sleep, and exercise in the context of nutrition and health.
My Journey. . .
Like many in this field, my journey into nutritional therapy was deeply personal. For years, I struggled with a long list of issues including adenomyosis, fatigue, low mood, digestive issues, acne, PMS, chronic migraines and skin issues (and more!).
I was offered different medications, but they were only sticking plasters, and my symptoms always returned when I stopped, often worse than ever. Motivated to understand what was really happening inside my body, and determined to find a better way to support my health, I started reading, researching and listening to podcasts with leading experts in functional medicine and nutrition science.
The deeper I delved, the more I began to understand my symptoms as communications of underlying biochemical imbalances and when I addressed these imbalances by eating and living in a way that supported my body’s needs, everything changed.

It wasn’t a quick fix, but it was a transformational shift in how I understood and approached my health, my lifestyle and my relationship with my body. I wasn’t just rewarded with clear skin, tons of energy, no migraines and dramatically better periods, my last MRI scan revealed I had no signs of Adenomyosis, at all! I also noticed a significant improvement in my mood, which sparked a deep interest in the relationship between nutrition and mental health.

This transformation in my health was so profound that I decided to retrain as a nutritional therapist. What began as a personal quest for understanding my own symptoms has evolved into a deep passion for helping others navigate their health journeys with scientific knowledge and compassion.
When I’m not digging into the latest nutrition research, I love cooking, powerlifting, and walking in the woods with our rescue greyhound, Roly.

My Values
My practice is founded on my core values of kindness, inclusion, empowerment, non-judgement and empathy and I endeavour to weave these values into all aspects of my service delivery. I am passionate about creating a welcoming, safe and inclusive space for everybody regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, race, religion or body size and shape. Everybody deserves the right to access nutritional therapy free from prejudice and judgement.

I have a wealth of experience of working with LGBT+ communities (and am LGBT myself) and I understand, personally and professionally, the additional barriers some LGBT+ people face when accessing support for their health. I am deeply committed to providing inclusive, accessible care, using affirmative language in a personalised way to address you or talk about your body

Supporting people to eat well on a budget is important to me. I sit on the board for The Village Food Bank, an amazing Brighton based food bank for LGBT+ people. You can find more about them, the amazing work they do OR donate by clicking here.
