FUNCTIONAL NUTRITIONAL THERAPIST & NUTRITIONAL PSYCHIATRY PRACTITIONER

I’m a BANT registered Functional Nutritional Therapist & Nutritional Psychiatry Practitioner with a background in psychology and a special interest in mental health and wellbeing. My work is grounded in the understanding that mental and physical health are deeply interconnected, and that nutrition, lifestyle, environment, stress, physiological factors and whole-body health can all play an important role in how we feel.

My approach combines evidence-based nutritional therapy with  personalised support to help clients better understand their symptoms and build sustainable foundations for long-term health.

Before training as a Nutritional Therapist, I worked within the charity sector delivering one-to-one emotional support and facilitating psychoeducational groups for young people and adults. Alongside this, my own health journey further inspired my appreciation for the powerful connection between nutrition and physical and mental wellbeing, as well as the importance of feeling truly heard and supported. These experiences continue to shape the deeply compassionate, whole-person approach at the heart of my practice.

My Approach

I specialise in Functional Nutritional Therapy and Nutritional Psychiatry, combining the principles of functional medicine, evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle medicine with a holistic approach to mental and physical wellbeing.

I consider the whole person, their diet, environment, lifestyle, health history and unique biochemistry, employing individualised, evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle interventions to support optimal health and wellbeing and address the underlying issues driving symptoms.

Functional nutritional therapy can help you understand how your diet and lifestyle may be impacting your health, identify underlying biochemical imbalances, and create a personalised plan to help you achieve your health goals.

How Nutritional Psychiatry Supports Mental Wellbeing

FEEDING THE BRAIN

Your brain is the most metabolically active organ in your body, relying on a steady supply of nutrients to support mood, focus, cognition, memory and emotional resilience. Through a personalised, food-first approach, I help optimise the nutritional foundations that support cognitive and mental wellbeing.

SUPPORT THE GUT-BRAIN CONNECTION

The health of your digestive system can have a profound influence on how you think and feel. By supporting gut health, digestive function, and the microbiome, we can help create the conditions for better mood regulation, stress resilience, and overall wellbeing.

REDUCE INFLAMMATION & OPTIMISE METABOLIC HEALTH

Emerging research highlights the important role that inflammation, blood sugar balance, and metabolic health play in mental wellbeing. My approach focuses on identifying and addressing underlying imbalances that may be contributing to symptoms, helping to support both physical and emotional health.

PERSONALISE NUTRITION FOR LASTING MENTAL WELLBEING

No two individuals are the same. Your health history, lifestyle, symptoms, and goals are all unique, as are the reasons for your symptoms, which is why every recommendation is tailored to you. Together, we create a practical, sustainable plan that supports long-term wellbeing and helps you feel your best.

My Values

My practice is founded on my core values of kindness, inclusion, empowerment, non-judgement and empathy and I endeavour to weave these values into all aspects of my service delivery. I am passionate about creating a welcoming, safe and inclusive space for everybody regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, race, religion or body size and shape. Everybody deserves the right to access nutritional therapy free from prejudice and judgement.

I have a wealth of experience of working with LGBT+ communities (and am LGBT myself) and I understand, personally and professionally, the additional barriers some LGBT+ people face when accessing support for their health. I am deeply committed to providing inclusive, accessible care, using affirmative language in a personalised way to address you or talk about your body

Supporting people to eat well on a budget is important to me. I sit on the board for The Village Food Bank, an amazing Brighton based food bank for LGBT+ people. You can find more about them, the amazing work they do OR donate by clicking here.

Background & Qualifications

Before re-training as a Nutritional Therapist, I spent many years running psychoeducational groups and delivering 1:1 emotional support with both young people and adults in the charity sector. I have a keen understanding of the complex interconnectedness between mind and body and my approach is trauma-informed.

I have significant experience of working with clients with Autism, ADHD and those on the Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) spectrum.
